Most people join a Maandhan pension scheme at a CSC counter or at a village camp. The operator takes the thumbprint, collects ₹55 or ₹100 in cash, hands over a printed card, and that’s it. A year later the card is lost, the SMS has stopped coming, and nobody knows whether the monthly money is still being cut.
This guide is for that moment. It does not repeat the “₹3,000 for every e-Shram card” story. We have covered that separately in our e-Shram ₹3,000 scheme guide. Here we cover the practical side of the maandhan.in portal: how to log in, how to register yourself or at a CSC, how to get your card again, how to read your account statement, the full contribution chart for ages 18 to 40, the farmers’ version (PM-KMY), and how workers in Uttar Pradesh are enrolling.

Mandhan Yojana Kya Hai? One Portal, Three Pension Schemes
“Maandhan” is not one scheme. It is the name used for three central government pension schemes that work the same way. You pay a small fixed amount every month until 60. The government puts in the same amount. From 60, you get ₹3,000 a month for life, and your spouse gets ₹1,500 a month after your death.
All three are managed on the same portal, maandhan.in.
| Scheme | For whom | Main limit | Status in 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| PM Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) | Unorganised workers: labourers, vendors, drivers, domestic workers and others | Income up to ₹15,000 a month | Running, 54 lakh+ members |
| PM Kisan Maan-dhan (PM-KMY) | Small and marginal farmers | Land up to 2 hectares | Running, about 25 lakh members |
| NPS-Traders (PM Laghu Vyapari Maandhan) | Shopkeepers, retail traders, self-employed | Yearly turnover up to ₹1.5 crore | Running, very low uptake |
Common rules for all three: age 18 to 40, you must not be an income tax payer, and you must not already be in EPFO, ESIC, NPS or another Maandhan scheme.
Is NPS for Traders Still Running or Merged?
We checked this carefully, because many websites say different things.
- It is still running as a separate scheme. The maandhan.in home page still lists the “National Pension Scheme for Traders” next to PM-SYM.
- Labour departments are still enrolling traders. A registration camp for PM-SYM and NPS-Traders was held in Andaman from 22 to 26 February 2026. In Kushinagar (UP), officials were told in August 2026 to register more people under the PM Laghu Vyapari Maandhan scheme.
- A merger was only proposed. In February 2025, news reports said PM-SYM and NPS-Traders “could be merged” under a new Universal Pension Scheme. As of September 2026, that Universal Pension Scheme was still reported as a concept note awaiting approval.
- Very few traders have joined. The last official figure we found is 52,211 registrations (as on 12 February 2023).
So as of 3 November 2026, NPS-Traders has not been merged or closed. If a merger happens later, existing members should be moved over, but wait for an official notice.

Mandhan Yojana Chart: Full Contribution for Every Age (18 to 40)
This is the official age-wise chart. Your monthly amount is fixed on the day you join and does not go up later. The chart below is for PM-SYM. PM-KMY and NPS-Traders use the same ₹55 to ₹200 range, and the amounts we could check for PM-KMY (ages 18, 25, 30, 35 and 40) are the same.
We added the last column ourselves, so you can see what you pay in a full year.
| Age at joining | You pay per month | Government adds per month | Total into your account per month | Your share per year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 18 | ₹55 | ₹55 | ₹110 | ₹660 |
| 19 | ₹58 | ₹58 | ₹116 | ₹696 |
| 20 | ₹61 | ₹61 | ₹122 | ₹732 |

| 38 | ₹180 | ₹180 | ₹360 | ₹2,160 |
| 39 | ₹190 | ₹190 | ₹380 | ₹2,280 |
| 40 | ₹200 | ₹200 | ₹400 | ₹2,400 |
Tip: The jump after 31 is bigger (₹10 a year of age instead of ₹3 to ₹5). If you are 30 or 31 and planning to join, joining now keeps your amount lower for the rest of the scheme.
Self-Enrolment vs CSC Enrolment: Which Is Better for You?
| Point | Self-enrolment on maandhan.in | Enrolment at a CSC (Jan Seva Kendra) |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free | Free. The Labour Ministry pays the CSC’s service charge |
| Aadhaar check | Mobile number and OTP | Fingerprint (biometric) |
| First payment | Online | In cash at the counter |
| Card | Download or print yourself | Operator prints it for you |
| Best for | People with a smartphone and net banking or UPI | Anyone without a smartphone, or with name or Aadhaar problems |
If an operator asks for money “for the card” or “for registration”, remember that only your first monthly contribution should be collected.
Mandhan Yojana Online Registration (Self-Enrolment), Step by Step
- Open the Maandhan portal. To open it directly, Click Here.
- Click Click Here to Apply Now. You will see two options: Self Enrollment and CSC VLE. Choose Self Enrollment.
- Enter your mobile number, then the OTP you receive.
- On your dashboard, click Enrollment and select the scheme: PM Shram Yogi Maandhan, PM Kisan Maandhan or the Traders scheme.
- Fill in your Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, gender, email (optional) and address (state, district, sub-district, village).
- Enter your bank account number and IFSC, your nominee, and your spouse’s name.
- The portal shows your monthly amount based on your age. Check it against the chart above.
- Give consent for auto-debit, pay the first contribution online and submit.
- Note down your 12-digit pension account number and download your card.
The menu names on the portal can change a little. If a step does not work, finish the enrolment at a CSC.
Mandhan Yojana Online Registration at a CSC (Including UP Jan Seva Kendras)
- Find your nearest CSC. To search, Click Here.
- Carry your Aadhaar card, bank passbook (savings or Jan Dhan account with IFSC) and the mobile phone linked to it. Farmers should also carry their PM Kisan details.
- The operator logs in through the CSC VLE option and verifies your Aadhaar with your fingerprint.
- The operator fills the form. Check your name, date of birth and bank number on the screen before submitting.
- Pay the first month’s contribution in cash.
- Sign the enrolment-cum-auto-debit mandate. Later payments will be cut from your bank account.
- Collect your printed pension card with your account number.
maandhan.in Login: How to Get Into Your Account
- Open the login page. To open it directly, Click Here.
- Choose Self Enrollment as the login type.
- Enter the mobile number you used when joining, then the OTP.
- Your dashboard opens. It shows your pension account number and whether your account is Active or Dormant.
Note: If you joined at a CSC with a different mobile number, the OTP goes to that number. Visit a CSC to update your mobile number first.
Mandhan Yojana Status Check
There are three kinds of “status”, and people often mix them up.
| What you want to know | Where to check |
|---|---|
| Did my enrolment finish? | Dashboard tabs: Pending (incomplete forms) and Complete (finished enrolments) |
| Is my account active? | Dashboard after login shows Active or Dormant |
| Is my monthly money being cut? | Bank SMS after each auto-debit, your passbook, or the account statement below |
The portal also has Voluntary Exit and Claim Status options. The Labour Ministry listed both as new features in its August 2026 reply to Parliament.
Mandhan Yojana Account Statement: How to See Every Payment
- Log in at maandhan.in (steps above).
- Click the Account Statement tab.
- Enter your 12-digit pension account number, name and gender, and choose the authentication type (usually OTP).
- Tick the consent box and click Proceed.
- The statement lists each month’s payment: your share and the government’s matching share.
What to look for: Check that every month has two equal entries. If a month shows nothing, the auto-debit failed (usually because of low balance). Too many missed months make the account dormant.
Maandhan Card Download (Shram Yogi or Kisan Pension Card)
- Log in at maandhan.in.
- Open the Print Card or Reprint Card option.
- Enter your 12-digit pension account number. If you don’t have it, search using your Aadhaar number.
- Check your details and give consent.
- Download or print the card.
One guide reports a fee of ₹20 for reprinting the card through this option. Check what the screen shows before you pay. A CSC can also print the card for you.
PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana: The Farmers’ Version
PM-KMY works like PM-SYM, but it is run by the Agriculture Ministry, with LIC as the partner. It was launched on 12 September 2019 and completed seven years in September 2026.
| Rule | Details |
|---|---|
| Who | Small and marginal farmers, men and women |
| Land | Up to 2 hectares of cultivable land, with the name in state land records as on 1 August 2019 |
| Age | 18 to 40 at joining |
| Contribution | ₹55 to ₹200 a month, with an equal government share |
| Payment options | Monthly, quarterly, four-monthly or half-yearly |
| Not for | Income tax payers, government employees (except MTS, Class IV and Group D), registered professionals, and those already in NPS, ESIC, EPFO, PM-SYM or NPS-Traders |
The useful part for farmers: On the PM-KMY form, you can choose to have your contribution auto-deducted from the bank account where your PM Kisan money comes. So you don’t need to remember to pay. Keep your PM Kisan e-KYC up to date so that money keeps coming. Our PM Kisan e-KYC guide explains how.
Farmers can enrol at a CSC, through self-enrolment on the portal, or through the state’s PM Kisan nodal officer. As of 6 February 2026, Haryana had the most members (about 5.75 lakh), followed by Bihar (3.46 lakh+), and Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh (each over 2.5 lakh).
Mandhan Yojana UP: How Uttar Pradesh Workers and Farmers Enrol
There is no separate UP portal. UP workers use the same maandhan.in portal or their nearest Jan Seva Kendra. What is different in UP is the push from district officials:
- Who can join in UP: In a Kushinagar meeting on 13 August 2026, officials said that outsourced, contract (samvida) and honorarium (manday) workers earning under ₹15,000 a month and not covered by EPF or ESI can also join PM-SYM.
- Special drive: UP ran a PM-SYM special drive from 15 January to 15 March 2026.
- Farmers: Over 2.5 lakh UP farmers were enrolled in PM-KMY as of February 2026.
| UP district results (PM-SYM, as reported) | Enrolments |
|---|---|
| Hardoi, full year 2025-26 | 929 |
| Azamgarh, full year 2025-26 | 597 |
| Ghaziabad, full year 2025-26 | 547 |
| Firozabad, special drive (15 Jan to 15 Mar 2026) | 349 |
| Ghaziabad, special drive | 262 |
| Basti, special drive | 238 |
Tip for UP workers: If you already have an e-Shram card, tell the Jan Seva Kendra operator. The Labour Ministry says e-Shram and Maandhan now share data both ways, which can make your form easier. If you don’t have one yet, see our e-Shram card registration guide.
Common maandhan.in Problems and Fixes
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| OTP not coming | Use the mobile number you gave at joining. If that number is closed, update it at a CSC |
| Form stuck in “Pending” | Open the Pending tab and finish it, or ask a CSC to complete it |
| Auto-debit stopped, account dormant | Use the revival option on the portal or at a CSC. Pay the missed amount with interest. You now get 3 years to revive (earlier it was 1 year) |
| Wrong bank, mobile or nominee | Use the Update Profile tab after login |
| Card lost | Use Reprint Card (see above) |
| Rejected because of EPFO or ESIC | You cannot be in PM-SYM if you are in EPFO, ESIC or NPS |
| Want to leave | Use Voluntary Exit. You get back your own share with interest as per rules, not the government’s share |
