If you are between 18 and 25 and at home after Class 12, ITI, a diploma or college, someone has probably forwarded you this message: “PM Internship mein ab ₹9,000 mahina milega.” Many people think it is a rumour, because the scheme started in 2024 with ₹5,000.
It is not a rumour. For the third pilot round, which started in April 2026, the government raised the stipend to ₹9,000 a month, widened the age limit to 18 to 25 years and cut the internship to 6 to 9 months. Final-year college students can apply too.
But some things are still unclear: there is no single “last date”, guides quote different income limits, and nothing official has been said about 2027. This guide separates what is confirmed from what is only reported.

PM Internship Yojana Kya Hai? The Simple Answer
The PM Internship Yojana is a paid internship scheme. Young people who are not in a full-time job or full-time study work inside a real company for a few months, learn on the job and get a monthly stipend.
- It was announced in the Union Budget 2024-25. The long-term target is 1 crore internships in five years.
- At first, only India’s top 500 companies (picked by CSR spending) took part. In Round 3 this grew to about 2,000 companies, plus MSMEs, global capability centres (GCCs), Airports Authority of India, Shipping Corporation of India, ICAI, ICSI and ICMAI.
- Each state can suggest up to 20 companies, as reported.
This is not a government job, and it does not promise a job at the end.
Is the ₹9,000 Per Month Stipend Real? Fact Check

How Much Money Will You Get in Total? (Worked Example)
The company decides the internship length. Here is what a full internship adds up to at the basic ₹9,000 rate:

What this means: A 6-month internship now pays almost the same total as the old 12-month one, in half the time. Reports call ₹9,000 the minimum, so some companies may pay more. If you leave midway, the payments stop.
PM Internship Yojana 2026 Last Date, and What Is Known for 2027
- No single last date: Round 3 is rolling. Companies keep posting internships, and each listing closes when it is filled.
- Offers until December 2026: ThePrint (13 October 2026) reported that offers will be posted until December 2026, and selected candidates can join until January 2027.
- “30 December 2026” on job sites: We could not find this date on any official page. Treat it as unconfirmed.
- 2027: No 2027 round or registration date has been announced. Round 3 may be the last pilot before the full rollout, but the government has not decided the next steps (ThePrint). Business Standard reported a budget estimate of ₹4,788 crore for 2026-27.
Our advice: Don’t wait for a “2027 registration”. If you are eligible, apply in Round 3 while listings are open.

PM Internship Yojana Apply Online: Registration Step by Step
Registration and Portal Login
- Open the PM Internship portal. To open it directly, Click Here.
- Click Youth Registration, verify your mobile number with the OTP and set a password.
- Log in again. To open the login page directly, Click Here.
- Complete e-KYC with an Aadhaar OTP or DigiLocker.
- Fill your profile (education, bank, skills), upload certificates and accept the eligibility declaration.
Apply, Accept the Offer and Join
- Open Internship Opportunity and filter by state, district, sector and role.
- Click View, then Apply. You can keep up to 3 active applications at one time.
- Track them under My Applications. Some companies hold a short online interview.
- If selected, accept the offer letter on the portal within the time given (about 14 days, as per guides), or it lapses.
- Join on the date in the offer letter, with your Aadhaar-seeded bank account ready for DBT.

What the numbers tell you: In the first two rounds, few people with offers actually joined. After the higher stipend and shorter duration, Round 3 already has more joinings than Rounds 1 and 2 together, and early dropouts fell to about 10%, as reported.
