What Is Ladli Behna Yojana?

Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana is a Madhya Pradesh government scheme that gives a fixed amount every month to eligible women, directly in their bank account. It started in June 2023, and since then the state has paid 40 installments in a row.

The money is meant to help women manage household needs, children’s education and health, and to give them some financial independence.

How the Monthly Amount Has Grown

Period Monthly amount
June 2023 to September 2023 ₹1,000
October 2023 to October 2025 ₹1,250
November 2025 onwards ₹1,500

    y-axis "Rs per month" 0 --> 1600
    bar [1000, 1250, 1500]

What does this mean for you? The amount has gone up one and a half times since the start. Today, each eligible woman gets ₹1,500 a month, which is ₹18,000 a year.

Extra money on Raksha Bandhan: In August 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026, the government also gave an extra ₹250 as a Rakhi shagun. That is why the August 2026 installment (39th) showed ₹1,750 in many accounts. It was a one-time festival gift, not a permanent increase.

Is Ladli Behna Yojana Closing? (Fact Check)

In early October 2026, a video went viral in which CM Mohan Yadav said the scheme has become costly and is a big financial responsibility. Many people took this to mean the scheme would end.

Here is what is actually known:

  • There has been no official announcement to stop the scheme.
  • The state has kept ₹23,883 crore for the scheme in the 2026-27 budget, about 28% more than last year.
  • The Cabinet has approved funds to continue the scheme up to 2030-31.
  • News reports on 13 October 2026, citing sources, said the government will not close the scheme and the 41st kist is on its way.

Bottom line: As of today, the scheme is running, and the 41st kist is expected this month.
